Plan Ahead for Summer Fun
Memorial Day is almost here, so summer is just around the corner. As the temperature rises, our thoughts turn to outdoor activities, time off and summer fun. We at All Ways Organized have these suggestions for making this your best summer yet:
1. Many people take their vacations during the summer months. If you have not planned yours yet, it's time to get started. The earlier you plan, the more options you will have for flights, hotels, etc. Consult travel agents, travel websites and travel literature for help in planning your trip.
2. If you are planning a trip out of the country, check your passport to make certain it has not expired, or apply for one if needed at least 4 to 6 weeks before your trip. Applications are available at the Passport Office at many other local postal offices If you apply too close to your departure date, you will need to pay extra, or travel to the Passport Agency in Boston. http://dosfan.lib.uic.edu/ERC/travel/passport/p6.html
3. Investigate summer camps and courses now and register as early as possible.
4. Get copies of your children's health forms if needed and mark your calendar with the date that they must be submitted.
5. Note on your calendar dates for vacation payments due so that you will not have to pay late fees.
6. As the weather warms, you will need to change your wardrobe. Schedule time to check your wardrobe, eliminating items that do not fit or you no longer wear. Schedule time to shop for new clothes that you will need for summer activities.
7. Summer cooking usually includes grilling, so take time now to check your grill. Make certain you have enough fuel. Make repairs and order replacement parts as necessary.
8. Check your summer sports and outdoor activity equipment, such as bicycles, helmets, games etc. Remember safety. All family members who bike, scooter, roller blade etc. must have helmets, safety pads etc. If you enjoy boating, make certain that every family member has a life jacket that fits.
9. Move summer equipment to a more accessible location in your garage or storage area if you had stored it elsewhere over the winter.
10. Schedule air conditioning maintenance now.
Happy Summer!
